Natural-Looking Solutions
Dental bridges are natural-looking dental appliances that can replace a section of missing teeth. Because they are custom made, dental bridges are barely noticeable and can restore the natural contour of teeth as well as the proper bite relationship between upper and lower teeth.
There are several types of fixed dental bridges (cannot be removed), including conventional fixed bridges, cantilever bridges and resin-bonded bridges.
Porcelain, gold alloys or combinations of materials are usually used to make the dental bridge appliances.
Dental bridges can be attached to your natural teeth or implants.
What to expect with a dental bridge
Dental bridges are usually performed in two visits. On the first visit, a local anesthetic will be given in order to prepare the teeth that will support the dental bridge. After preparation of the teeth is complete, an impression is taken in order to design a dental bridge that has a natural and secure fit. A temporary bridge will then be fabricated and cemented in place.
To complete the dental bridge procedure, you must return to the dental office for a second visit to have the bridge fitted and cemented in place. Your dental bridge will restore your function and aesthetics. Our team will ensure that the shade is the same as your natural teeth, resulting in a natural-looking smile that will boost your confidence and make you feel better about your smile.
Eligibility for Dental Bridges
Our dental team will evaluate your teeth to assess the suitability of a fixed bridge for you. The bridge is precisely positioned over two adjacent teeth for a secure fit. Larger bridges may have reduced stability, and if needed, we may recommend incorporating implants for additional support.
Dental Bridge Procedure Overview
Commencing the procedure involves applying a local anesthetic for numbness in the targeted area. Subsequently, we'll shape and file the surrounding teeth to create space for the new fixed bridge, taking impressions for both temporary and permanent bridges. After this initial step, you'll leave with the temporary bridge, returning for a second appointment to install the permanent one. During the second visit, the temporary bridge is replaced with the permanent version using dental-grade adhesive. We'll polish the bridge, make necessary adjustments, and provide instructions for proper oral care to ensure its longevity.
